THE OFFICE BOY

A jobless man applied for the position of ‘office boy’ at a very big firm.
The Employer interviewed him, then a test: clean the floor. “You are hired” he said, give me your email address, and I’ll send you the application to fill, as well as when you will start. The man replied “I don’t have a computer, neither an email”.
I’m sorry, said the Employer, if you don’t have an email that means you do not exist. And who doesn’t exist, cannot have the job. The man left with no hope at all. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 US in his pocket.
He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10 KG tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation 3 times, and returned home with $60 US. The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubles or triples every day. Shortly later, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.
5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US. He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance.
He called an insurance broker, and chooses a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email. The man replied: ‘I don’t have an email’. The broker replied curiously, you don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Do you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?
The man thought for a while, and replied: an office boy!

THE LITTLE THINGS

As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's car wouldn't start.

One went back to answer the telephone .

One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things
and may you remember their possible purpose.

It's A Dog's Life...

Life is simple … It is we HUMANS that make it hard. Here’s some good advice –

If a dog was the teacher, you would learn stuff like:

• When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

• Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

• Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

• When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.

• Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

• Take naps.

• Stretch before rising.

• Run, romp, and play daily.

• Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

• Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

• On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

• On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

• When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

• No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout! Run right back and make friends.

• Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

• Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

• Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

• If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

• When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

BE SINCERE

This is an inspirational speech by Chetan Bhagat at Symbiosis that I wish to share with you, dear friends.
“Don't just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life.”
I use the word balanced before successful. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.
There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.
"Life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. Same is with life where health and relationships are the marble.
Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die.

One thing about nurturing the spark - don't take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends.
Do we really need to get so worked up? It's ok, bunk a few classes, scoring low in couple of papers, goof up a few interviews, take leave from work, fall in love, little fights with your spouse.
We are people, not programmed devices........."

"Don't be serious, be sincere.”

GOD'S WIFE

An Eye Witness Account from New York City, on a cold day in December:
A little boy about 10 years old was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the boy and said, “My little fellow, why are you looking so earnestly in that window?”
“I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,” was the boy’s reply.
The lady took him by the hand and went into the store and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with a towel. By this time the clerk had returned with the socks. Placing a pair upon the boy’s feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes. She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, “No doubt, my little fellow, you feel more comfortable now?”
As she turned to go, the astonished lad caught her by the hand, and looking up in her face, with tears in his eyes, answered the question with these words: “Are you God’s Wife?”
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real !
When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don’t see the one, which has been opened for us.
Don’t go for looks; they can deceive.
Don’t go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile.
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet …
enough trials to make you strong …
enough sorrow to keep you human …
and enough hope to make you happy …

DELETE TWO DAYS

Today I will delete from my diary two days:
Yesterday & Tomorrow
Yesterday was to learn
and
Tomorrow will be the consequence of what I can do today.
Today I will face life with the conviction that this day will not ever return.
Today is the last opportunity I have to live intensely, as no one can assure me that I will see tomorrow’s sunrise.
Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity pass me by, my only alternative is to succeed.
Today I will invest my most valuable resource: my time, in the most trascendental work: my life;
I will spend each minute passionately to make of Today a different and unique day in my life.
Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on my way, trusting I will succeed.
Today I will resist pessimism and will conquer the world with a smile, with the positive attitude of expecting always the best.
Today I will make of every ordinary task a sublime expression,
Today I will have my feet on the ground, understanding reality and the stars’ gaze to invent my future.
Today I will take the time to be happy and will leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others.

MOTHER

The young mother set her foot on the path of life.
“Is this the long way?”
she asked.
And the angel said:
“Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning.”
And she started:
The young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, And bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, And the young Mother cried
“Nothing will ever be lovelier than this.“
Then the night came, And the storm, And the path was dark, And the children shook with fear and cold, And the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, And the children said,
“Mother, We are not afraid, for you are near, And no harm can come.“

And the morning came, And there was a hill ahead, And the children climbed and grew weary, And the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,
“A little patience and we are there.“
So the children climbed, and when they reached the top they said,
“Mother, We would not have done it without you.“
And the mother, When she lay down at night looked up at the stars and said,
“This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I’ve given them strength.“
And the next day came strange clouds which Darkened the Earth, Clouds of war and hate and evil, Children groped and stumbled, And the mother said:
“Look up. Lift your eyes to the light.“
And the children looked and saw above the clouds an everlasting glory, And it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the Mother said,
“This is the best day of all, For I have shown my children God.“
And the days went on, And the weeks and the months and the years, And the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, And walked with courage. And when the way was rough, They lifted her, For she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And mother said,
“I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them.“
And the children said,
“You will always walk with us, Mother, Even when you have gone through the gates.“
And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her.
And they said:
“We cannot see her but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.“
Your Mother is always with you….
She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street; she’s the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks; she’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she’s crystallized in every tear drop. She’s the place you came from, your first home; and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space… Not even death!
MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHERS FOR GRANTED…
